Mike brought SharpReel a very nice old collection of Penn and Abu Garcia fishing reels. The two Penn fishing reels are saltwater and the two Abu Garcia fishing reels are freshwater. Mike’s fishing reels showed signs of wear from all angles. The Penn Peerless 9 had a broken idle gear, which made the level wind inoperable. The Penn 9 made the record books with the most wear on drag magnates. Both Penn drag magnates were reversed, and both were serviced with saltwater lubrication. The Abu Garcia Ambassadeur Mag I, and the Mag II showed signs for external and internal wear.

All 4 reels were polished, lubricated and fine tuned. There is no comparison when it comes to working components in a Penn baitcast fishing reel to a Abu Garcia. Truth is, it is always a thrill to experience the craftsmanship in both!
